Using the quadratic formula -b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus 4(ac) over 2 a, the answer is 7 plus or minus the square root of 42 over 4.

use the formula x=-b±(square root of (b²-4ac))/2a

meaning x= (7±(square root of (-7²-4(2)(-1))/2(2)
x=3.63745, x=-0.13746

u can use the formula of

{-b+-root[square of b - 4ac]} / 2a

ie the root of x will be
(7+root 59)/4 and (7-root59)/4
