Heard on Oprah Show, that 51% of American women are single. Some reasons you think this is so?

First time for singles to outnumber married women. Other than high divorce rates, what are other reasons for change?

Women are raising the bar and standards, they don't stay n a relationship 4 financial needs, are 4 the sake of the kids, they are looking 4 their happiness as well. They expect alot more from men now including loyalty, commitment and a Man 2 be Head of the Household and to no his role. If women cannot find a man that meet most of their expectations they are refusing 2 settle. Some women enjoy being a loner and want 2 have (options) a variety of men that offer them fun, good conversation, good sex etc without having 2 live with them. They r doing what men have done 4 years enjoying life without feeling rushed 2 settle down. There are also more gay/bi woman now-they want it all. They feel entitled. Women have been suppressed 4 years.

Women can afford to live on their own - we are working professionals with as many assets as men. Some women concentrate on their career first before they settle down into a married life (which will take away from the career once the child arrives). And men are waiting to get married also..

1. It is more socially acceptable for a woman to be single.
2, Women are capable of supporting themselves financially.
3. Marriage is hard work. If you have a job and can support yourself, the need to make a marriage work no longer exists.

Feminists are not willing to give men what they want. In a nutshell the feminist movement when it comes to relationships was about shoving down mens throats that a relationship to a modern woman is going to be everything she wants how much she wants when she wants it, what the man wants comes last and only if it coincides with what the woman wants and that is not good enough for men anymore. Relationships also mean responsibilities for a man, a responsibility enforcabel by court punishabel with jail.
To sum it up men feel a relationship to an American woman is like dealing with a broken vending machine. No matter what you put in it you never get out of it what you want.

Many of these women find relationships a waste of time and decide to pursue their independence instead. I say, hats off to them. The others are just unlucky.

EDIT: Cassius, if you're so bitter about American women, why don't you just do what they do and stop dating?

They can choose to be single. They may not have found the right person to be with. They are too busy with their careers, educational pursuits, etc to have a social life.

Men are starting to realise that they don't need to buy the cow, and feed and milk it for years, when all they want is a glass of milk.

Alot of men are refusing to marry them. It is a huge risk for men to marry nowadays. He can lose his kids, home, and everything he's worked for or going to work for just by marrying a vindictive woman. That's a shame. I don't blame them for not wanting to marry.
