Wow Jack is getting close in that it went beyond the availablity of cars. But the impact was global and occured relativley quickly.
I learned the answer about 25 years ago when our Kiwi 'Baby Sitter' asked me a question of American History for her International School Homework.

Hi Caretaker,
Let me try a different tack...
I say the the two words that best describe the impact of the Model T are, "Democratized Consumption."
Up until the Model T, automobiles were luxury items that were the toys of the rich and famous. Ford put this luxury within the reach of the common person. His revolutionary techniques of production: (not assembly line, but, MOVING assembly line) revolutionized the production of consumer goods in the 20th century, and sparked the beginning of a new economic model that (with a few twists and turns) remains the basic paradigm to this day.
Most economies rise and fall based primarily on consumer spending; and Ford's kinetic repetitive flow production method became the standard for all industries. The effect of this was to increase supply, and lower costs, which had the knock-on effect of increased demand, and thus higher levels of employment. Hence, the 20th century. "The Age Of The Consumer."

EDIT FOR CARETAKER...
Per your additional comments. I look forward to your answer, and hope you take the time to share. In the meantime, I'll keep to my original answer, as I believe it meets the added criteria you mentioned of universality and speed of impact.
The revolution I'm talking about had instantaneous impact around the globe (at least the industrialized portion).
Cheers, mate.

**
It drove wages up for all in a few years, the work was menial, boring and Ford had to pay to keep workers. This rippled in all economies, actually lead to stronger trade unions.

Roads more and better surfaced highways
