Were Jews in any sense originally Palestinians who didn't convert after the spread of Islam? Or are the two peoples fundamentally separate?

Hi Andrew,

The word "Palestine" is a modern variant of the old biblical word, "Philistine." So, one might call the Palestinian people the heirs of the biblical Philisitines.

Yes, the Israelis of old, and the Philistines of old were both semitic peoples. But that distinction has been lost over the millennia.

After the diaspora in the first century, the Jewish people traveled everywhere; and over the centuries their bloodlines have mixed and mingled so many times, it's impossible to say that they now share an ethnicity with the Palestinians.

Cheers, mate.

The people of the near east are ethnically the same.
Ethnicity and religion should not be mixed.
Abraham/Ibrahim was the father of Ismael and Isaac. When Abraham's wife, Sarah finally gave him a child (Isaac), she insisted that Abraham sent his concubine and son (Ismael) into the desert. They were saved by the Angel Gabriel, who told Haditha where to find water.
Just as the Jewish religion spread, so that many Jews are not ethnically Semites, so Islam spread, and not all Muslims are ethnic Semites.
It might be worth noting that, since Jesus was a Jew and ethnically Semitic, the majority of Christians today are not Semites.

They share ethnicity due to their Semitic blood. However, the Semitic blood of the Palestinians is due to conquest and interbreeding. If the Palestinians are the Philistines, then they were originally a different people. I believe that the Philistines were also known as the Pelasgians, the 'sea' people who invaded the area approximately 2,000 BC from the area of Greece due to population pressure from the Illyrian (Indo-European) invasion.

Before Jews were in Palestine, they were wondering all over the world, had no place, just being kicked out from every place they go to on earth. But a few Christians and Jews were living in Palestine with 80%Arab Muslims, but most Jews were mostly living in Europe.During Hitler's regime, millions of jews were killed in the Holocaust. So then the world felt sympathy for them, and decided to give them, and for them to settle in the Palestinians,80%Muslim land.i think this was assigned so that Europe/Britian would finally get away from Jews and live in peace.Under the Balfour Declaration,Britian supported a national home in Palestine for jews in 1917... called isreal. But Long live Palestine.

There were many wandering tribes in this area thousands of years ago. Some felt they were better than others and followed one teaching, the others followed a different path and felt they were the superior ones. Always fighting each other so what's changed?
If they are tested, you will find they are virtually the same genetically.

Yes. Their DNA matches one people from the same part of the world (this was a scientific report I read about in a quality newspaper, I can't recall the details).
