Why dont you try Croatia?

Its a little touristy over summer, but you can find heaps of little towns along the coast road, or further inland that will still be fairly normal. Istra on the western border, close to Italy is beatiful. They have lots of little unspoiled villages, and have the best wine and smoked meat like proscuitto in the whole country. Towns like Motovun, Rovinj, Visnjan and Porec have some really nice churches and architecture.
Rijeka where I live is a great city, around 300,000 people, has lots of restaurants & cafes, is a main sea port, but not quite so busy as the main tourist town Opatija, which is only 10mins away.

I think it is very diverse here, because the coastal weather and landscape are mediteranean, but the inland areas of Slavonia and around the capital Zagreb have a continental climate and landscape.

And after all, its one of the cheapest places to visit, since we aren't yet on the euro. Coffee here is around 5 kuna, which is about $1 US!!

go to coratia. The coast is a bit crowded during the summer but if you google enough you should find some small ,quiet place. Im from the north, where you have the hills, vineyards and stuff. Theres also the eastern part of Croatia, its practically a big valley, but you can see farms, horses... I think thats what youd call a diverse culture. most of the country is connected by highways.
p.s. the north and east arent crowded at all, but theyre still really neat places to visit.

Don't know how you'll get a diverse culture in a small country...Switzerland maybe? I've always wanted to go to Luxumberg.

Well, I would suggest Iceland; it's beautiful, and not cold like most people think it is. It has hot springs, geisers, and some (non-active) volcanos-and only has a population of 228,000 people. If you are interested-deffinatly go there. But if you don't seem interested-I would suggest Austria-and maybe Switzerland.

There is no small country in europe that is multiculturally diverse!! Try Norway. Lots of Pakistanis there, apparently, buts its cold.

The Azores is unspoiled by mass tourism - but culturally the islands are definitely Portuguese, not diverse.

Happy traveling!
