Emo, if it's a word.

Because it sounds stupid.

When people like say like between like every two or three words that like really gets on my nerves. That's definitely one of my pet peeves, but I guess it's more of a mannerism or a nervous habit of speakers. A single word that gets on my nerves is "irregardless". It's not even a word, and I often hear it, even on the news!

Irregardless. Jimmy Carter used it in a few speeches and I hear it all the time now. It's not a correct word. The suffix -less is all that is needed to make the word, it doesn't need the prefix Ir-.

Is it a double negative at this point, and mean the exact opposite?

And...LIKE...I teach highschool and they cannot say like a complete sentence without like using the word at least like 3 times. Makes them sound so stupid.

My British father-in-law used to hate the words 'cool', the expression 'right now' as opposed to 'now', and 'one time' for 'once', he also really hated it when Americans said 'you're welcome' after thanking them (I worked really hard on this one and finally figured out an alternative)......those are a few that drove him crazy. I don't know what drives me crazy anymore. I have a 14-year-old stepson, that pretty much says everything....

yes, when people grumbled out the word huh? They could be courteous enough to say pardon me or I am sorry I did not know what you said could you repeat it, please? There is also the word what when sounded in a irregular tone of voce can sound insulting.

No... I don't "know"! How can I, if you haven't told me? I get this every day at work now. It never used to irritate me so much before. Grrrrzzz
