Hi,
There are better answers in your other posting, but here is mine.
The problem is that not all women are suitable physically and emotionally or mentally. Most women have weaker bones, less dense muscle. This is a scientific fact.
For example, when the US Marines gave training tests to women for infantry roles, 60% of the female recruits could not throw a grenade far enough to avoid being injured.
Also it has been necessary to reduce the pack size that women can carry thus reducing operational efficiency...
So yes, some women can do it, but not all ... therefore the decidion has to be taken on an individual basis, and this makes it harder!
I personally think women can do 90% of the jobs in the army men can do, but front-line airborne roles are probably out, likewise special forces ... for exsmple, during WWII the Soviet Army that destroyed the German Salient at Kursk was something like 20% women ... plus they hade women bomber and fighter pilots!
I´ll probably be lambasted for that!

that's a good question, which, unfortunately, we may not know the answer to. I do think that most of the time it's becuase womens' bodies are different than men (scientific fact) and it could be because they may not be able to keep up with the bigger men. There's that, and there's the fact they could be assigned away from where all the fighting is, because they aren't trusted to serve on the front line with the guys when lives are at stake. This is my theory, I don't know if this is true for a fact. My brother told me they didn't even give women a chance in the special ops. I don't know the difference between units, so it could be different everywhere

In some countries women do fight in the front lines. Certainly in Israel and some African countries. In some countries female soldiers/sailors are sent on 'armed missions' where there is a minor possibility of combat, i.e. the recent British sailors that were captured by the Iranians -- they had been on a search mission on a fishing boat in Iraqi waters and were returning back to their own ship when taken.
In most western countries the general public do not like the idea of women fighting and dying in the front lines although they feel women should have equal rights. There are occasions when female soldiers from non-combat roles have found themselves in combat situations.
In other countries the senior military officials fear that the male soldiers may feel they have to 'protect' their female soldiers if they are in the front line. There is also the problem of urinating and defecating in mixed units in the field where there is no privacy. There is also the problem of sex between soldiers and then the problem of the female soldiers possibly becoming pregnant. Another fear is that if a female soldier is captured in the field, she may be raped in retaliation by the enemy.

hi, the priority is that no longer all women human beings are perfect. as an social gathering, even as the U. S. Marines gave coaching checks to women folk human beings for infantry roles, 60% of the female recruits could no longer throw a grenade a concepts sufficient to avert being injured. So definite, some women human beings can do it, yet no longer all ... for this reason the decidion must be taken on a individual foundation, and this makes it more durable! i in my opinion imagine women human beings can do ninety% of the jobs contained in the military adult men can do, yet the front-line airborne roles are probable out, likewise particular forces ... for exsmple, throughout the time of WWII the Soviet military that destroyed the German Salient at Kursk replaced into something like 20% women human beings ... plus they hade women human beings bomber and fighter pilots! I´ll probable be lambasted for that!

Sure, equal rights to both men and women, but there also exists some very natural differences. One of them is the willingness to kill, that instinct is weaker in women. Women have a greater innate instinct to nurture, and not so in men. And so on, there are many real differences between genders that supercede so called equal rights. Your question is no different than asking why men aren't allowed to give birth, don't men have equal rights?

I agree when in ROTC I stood beside female cadets I would gladly put my life in their hands. Then there were some men there so stupid i would let gaurd a stick.
Unfortunately we still believe all women are weaker than men and this is absolutely untrue....Beat lisa Leslie in basketball and then we can talk.
I say we allow all women who meet the proper standards to be given duty in the combat arms.

I think I have seen some pictures of women carrying guns walking the streets.Few of them though.I think they try to keep a low profile in the eastern countries and Iraq because of the rules involving women and pants.Or similar dress.
