in america, i frequently hear people say, "i hate springfield". and its acceptable for people to say they hate their home town and they just laugh. but i rarely hear people say i hate usa and or accept it in the same way. if its ok to hate your hometown, why not hate the country?

Funny you picked Springfield. That's OK. I don't hate my home town, but I am really mad at the state of Ohio. I can say I hate the Ohio state government, but I love America.

Only in America can you say you hate any part of the government.

What the heck did Springfield do to you anyway?

To me it's all about respect. People say they hate their hometown because it's small, boring, or whatnot...but why on earth would you have a reason to say you hate the USA? If you disagree with how the government is behaving...then say that, but there is NO reason an American should have to say they hate the USA.

I don't think they really HATE it per say... it's just that that's where they've always been and they want to get out and explore. Most times they end up going back home sometime later in life.

There are 50 states in the US and several hundred cities and probably several thousand towns. You caould hate one particular town but not the whole country because of it.

because the USA is a great place!

I love my town/state i live in!

sometimes it's not necessarily the place they live that's so bad but the people they have to deal with there.

I think that the grass is greener on the other side.
Thats all.
Life becomes a little routine, or you want something more, or just different.
Take it with a grain of salt. Its all good.
