I'm not from Australia, but in America whenever I've seen the question about criminal record on an employment application, they've always provided a space to give details. Save your question that you wrote here, get the spelling and grammar right, and use that for your explanation. We've all done things that are abominable. The type of people that are actually good for you to hang around with will understand.

And P.S. Using respectful, polite words is very important when dealing with authority figures, and actually, most people. It might take some practice, but it will pay off big time. Then you'll have real power to express your real feelings in ways that will get the results you want.

In Australia I think you will find that with a record so old and if you have not been in trouble since you will be able to explain it away and most employers will accept it.

For childcare we also have to have apolice check but are given an opportunity to explain.

go for it and see how it goes I think the 17yr old stuff is juvinile anyway.

good Luck you always have the opportunity to appeal.
