I'm kind of new at this laptop genre, but I'd like to be mobile with it. How/where can I get a "card" for my Acer...so I can cut the cord and be independant. Bellsouth/Comcast are my providers for I.S.P./loc. svc.

There are several ways, depending what you had in mind. If you just want to use Internet freely, get a wireless router and a wireless card for your laptop (which should have one embeded. A new laptop nowadays that does not have an wireless card is a very lousy product). If the instruction you got from the wireless router maker is not too complicated, you should not have too much of a problem to set it up.

Yet, if you meant as laptop having hooked up to a bigger monitor, keyboard, mouse and other peripherals and carry the laptop to different places when needed, you have to get a docking station which can hook up the peripherals for you. Once you did the configurations for the laptop, you can dock it and undock it within a matter of seconds.
