It's not possible. The definition of even is that division by 2 results in a whole number. If you divide an odd number by 2 you always get a .5. Therefore if you add 2 odd numbers you always get an even number. Add another odd number on top and you will always get odd.

No. There are no three odd numbers that add up to 20. Any two odd numbers when added together results in an even number. Then when you add an odd number to an even number, you get an odd number. So when adding the first two odd numbers, you get an even number. Then adding the third odd number to that result will result in and odd number.

Example: a, b, c are all odd numbers

a + b = (equals an even number) + c = (an odd number)

Therefore, no three odd numbers added together can equal 20

No because 3 odd numbers add up to another odd number and 20 is even.

hi princess,
sum of 3 odd numbers is odd so sum cannot be 20 as 20 is even.

I could agree with the people saying it can't be done.
Just ade mi think of a joke.

Take one odd number like 5 and two outrageously big numbers, like
893529567645939842757235021502945
and -893529567645939842757235021502930
Well, these are certainly odd numbers to use when you want to get 20....
:)

no three odd numbers equal an evan number;
(2a+1)+(2a+3)+(2a+5) = 6a+9
six times a number is always even + an odd number is always odd
this is the mathematical formula to prove that no three odd numbers equal an evan number

since it is an odd number, it should be in the form of (2n+1)
assume ,
1st odd number= (2a+1)
2nd odd number= (2b+1)
3rd odd number= (2c+1)

a,b,c are any natural number

if we sum three odd numbers up we always get odd number, so it is impossible to sum it up and get 20 (even number)
