Is going to a more prestigious University worth a year of re-sitting?

If you didn't get the right grades, Would it be better if you re-sit your exams next year or start your course anyway in a less prestigious University?

I mean you could graduate a year earlier and do post graduates to improve your status!

Going to a prestigious university is always better but you should look at what area you wish to specialise and do your majors. Some Universities are better at Asian History and Asian studies, others may be better at European studies, others in Ancient Studies. Because I live in Australia and I wanted to specialise in Asian studies I only had the choice of two 'prestigious' universities that excelled in Asian studies, Monash University and the Australian National University (ANU) whereas there are a number of other prestigious universities in Australia, and there are other universities in Australia that teach Asian studies. I majored in Asian History and did minors in politics and Asian languages, also I went on to do a Masters degree and started, but did not complete a PhD.

Probably because they see teenagers as kids themselves, regardless of how much they are doing for themselves. They view a teenager as still growing up, which they are. They are still growing and have a lot to experience and go through. Just the other day I was mistaken for being the parent of a 7 year old. I was shocked and a little offended by this comment. I am 22 years old so I thought how can I possibly be mistaken for a mother of a 7 year old (I look maybe 19 or 20 by the way). Then I realized that in these days I could very well be if I had had the baby at 15 years old. But I took offense to it because I am very proud to say that I never even had sex til after high school. I respected my body to not just have sex with any loser guys at the school I went to. Heck, I never even dated any of them because they were not worth my time. I am more mature than they were. I am now pregnant with my first baby at the age of 22 and with the father of the baby. My boyfriend is 28. We are not married, but one day plan to be. We are not in any rush though to do so. We pay all of our own bills and live in our own place. Right now we are renting a house and have 2 dogs together, but are looking into buying a house. Most likely we will be in our very own home by the end of the year. No one has to be married to make a relationship and family work. Some people might even view anyone under the age of 25 should not have kids. Some people view that people who are not married should not have kids. But I just look at it this way, I and even you will always be better parents than the 35 year old who takes no responsibility taking care of their child. It's not about age, it's about maturrity and resposibility. But when my child grows up, I hope they too can respect themselves and wait til a decent age to have kids. I'm hoping at least 20-22 years old. I hope no sooner than that.

If you are in the UK I can't give you a good answer but here in America I would tell you to attend a Jr. collage and after two years I would transfer to the school that you would really like to go to. I will also tell you no matter what school you attend a few years from now aside from bragging rights and there won't be a lot of that. It is going to make no difference.

Note; Pay little attention to number one's bragging your question was about you and not having the grades to attend a upper level University at this time. I will share a question that is asked at every medical school in America, "What is the best Medical School?" the answer is the one that you attend. The other thing that I didn't say was that those tests are a way of separating out those that they feel can do the work and those that can't. Jr. Collage will give you the additional material that you will need at the university, good luck and don't let this bump in the road stop you.
