why do they lie to protect themselves instead of proving the someone is innocent?

i know that there are a lot of good police officers out there, my brother-in-law is one of the good ones.
But it's those few bad ones that i've had to deal with that ruin it for the others!

Like you said there are a lot of good cops out there and they have a rough and dangerous job. I think some people become police officers for the power and control they have over people and most do it because they want to protect people and serve their community. I know there are cases of police coverups and sometimes they get too anxious to solve a crime and go after the first person they find without looking any further, however, I think most are out there because they love what they do.

They become cops because it is an ego thing. BUT this is a limited amount of people that do this.

I think they want to appear as if they're stronger than they really are, perhaps. It can be a very big ego boost but if you're not going to be an honest cop, DON'T be one. Period.

i know in my city, they are all bullies.... they like to harrass people. somebody asked a ? weeks ago if they like policemen, i answered negatively, and i got a lot of thumbs down but if you were to come live here you would know why.

Because they go into it because they are control freaks. I mean the ones you are talking about. It makes them feel big to be able to tell people what do and whatnot.
