In Deep South mythology, one would go to the crossroads at night if they wished to make a deal with the devil. There is no record of where the actual crossroads is that Johnson states he went to to make a deal with the devil, but most Johnson fans believe it is either the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 1 in Rosedale, Mississippi or and the crossroads of US 61 and US 49 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

In the Mississippi Delta. He supposedly made a pact with the devil and he died an early death. Lots of other artist have used parts of or rerecorded his songs and have had tragic events in their lives like the Allman Brothers and Lynryd Skynrd. I think the story or what sounds like a copy of the story is the opening to Tim McGraws song "How Bad Do You Want It" The beginning of the song sounds like an old scratchy record and it says something like"Farmer Johnson went to the crossroads and the devil took his soul, yeah the devil took his soul." That's not verbatim cause I am too old to memorize music anymore but it's close.

go employ and watch the action picture observed as 'Crossroads' stars the guy who starred contained in the 'Karate toddler' video clips. 'Crossroads' even featured rock guitar virtuoso Steve Vai in a scene! besides, that action picture is depending off of Robert Johnson's promoting his soul to the devil besides as a thirtieth music which will or would no longer exist (watch the action picture to be sure which that's).

A small guitar-shaped sign on top of a pole (next to the liquor store) at the crossroads of US 61 and US 49 in Clarksdale, Mississippi signifies that event. It's easy to miss, unless you know you're there.
