That is illegal, shame on you how dare you put that out on the internet- you should get arrested, that is very bad crime. illegal downloading isn't for books its for overpriced music! you should be checking books out of a library, and try Blue if for Nightmare, that is a great book, good luck.

The only books downloadable for free and legally so are works whose copyrights have expired - books by Mark Twain, Jack London, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and the like. A few Agatha Christie and Edith Wharton are about as modern as you can get.
Project Gutenberg is the grand-daddy of all such free 'n' legal for downloads, though with an admittedly bare-bones interface - http://www.gutenberg.org
Excellent literary selections here; if you've read them all, you're all set for college - http://www.bibliomania.com and http://www.bartleby.com
And a directory that lists all the e-text sites you'll ever need... http://ipl.org/div/subject/browse/hum60.60.00/
And just for kicks, check out the British Library's beautifully designed web feature Turning the Pages ( http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/ttp/ttpbooks.html ). Leonardo da Vinci's notebook is well worth a gander.
BookSpot ( http://www.bookspot.com/ ) ought to fulfill all your reader's needs. Book reviews, reading lists, online texts, etc.
What I've given are the sites I use the most. You really don't need any more than those because the rest just repeats what's already listed here. There are, after all, only so many books in the public domain. Also, be aware that some books are illegal for download within the US due to the nature of American copyright laws (The Online Books Page has one such "No-US-access" section). For instance, The Great Gatsby. Just a thought.
Have a wonderful time reading.
Bottom line - If you really need a book THAT bad, go to your public library or just buy it from the bookstore. And you know what? Librarians are lovely people who are more than happy to share good books with you.
PS I couldn't help noticing Crazy's post listing what *appears* to be free 'n' legal ebooks - very misleading - The copyrights for Lord of the Flies, Night, The Catcher in the Rye, and Death of a Salesman haven't expired yet!

TV is produced to the cheapest common denominator - i.e., the common IQ of the general public, whereas a written reserve is written to the best common denominator
