Ever since the end of the mystery voices I`ve been asking all my colleagues and friends who he is. Not one of them have ever heard of him. Does it seem entirely "proper" to use someone for a competition who is nowhere as near mainstream as the other voices?

This effectively excludes anyone who is not an indie music fan - I googled him.
I`m not a great soap fan but at least I`d heard of Sarah Lancashire.
What do you think.

for £168k they were never gonna make it easy.

If you were signed up for their newsletter then a few weeks back you would have recieved a clue in the form of a link to their previous guests list on their website. I think this was possibly how the winner finally got the answer.

Lets face it, even knowing who the other two voices were doesnt mean you recognised them saying one word either magic, 105 or point 4. This goes for Rob Thomas too, even knowing who he is doesn't mean I recognised his voice in the competition

Rob Thomas was the lead singer in Matchbox 20 but also was the singer of "Smooth" by Carlos Santana which was a huge hit! Haven't you ever heard that song? Who's Sarah Lancashire?

Rob Thomas was the lead singer of the American Band Matchbox Twenty. He went solo a couple of years ago and his most popular solo hit was 'Lonely no More'.

He also sang with Carlos Santana a song called 'Smooth' - a great song btw!

Matchbox Twenty were pretty big in their day and you would probably recognise a lot of their songs although I have to agree he doesn't have the type of voice you would instantly recognise and say 'Oh that's Rob Thomas'

Wait, what?

The lead singer of Matchbox 20 isn't mainstream enough for you?

Geez, according to wikipedia:

"He has lent his songwriting talents to such artists as Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, Marc Anthony, Pat Green and Taylor Hicks."

And:

"Since 1996, his band, Matchbox Twenty, has released a string of hit singles to radio including "Push", "3 A.M.", "Back 2 Good", "Bent", "If You're Gone", "Unwell" and "Bright Lights"."

Sounds pretty mainstream to me. Maybe your colleagues have never heard of him because he is mostly associated with a band (Matchbox 20), so you don't necessarily hear his name. Ask them about the band... I bet they've at least heard of it.

Hope this helps!
