I have a second degree burn on my right hand. I got my burn on the 25th of March, and the doctor said that it should heal around 10 days - 2 weeks. He prescribed to me Flamazine and some painkillers and gave me homecare. By yesterday, all the nurses said that it's healing rather nicely...but today a nurse didn't come due to it being Good Friday. My mom changed it [all the nurses taught her] but when she was cleaning it, we saw these really unpleasant little spots...Yesterday, my mom was also the one to change it but with the supervision of a nurse and she said that she was doing it correctly...We haven't had the chance to go to the doctor yet, and so I'm kind of nervous about this. The little spots won't leave so I'm wondering if it's an infection. Please help T-T.

Today, my mom just changed it again and the area of the spots kind of just grew larger [the spots were a fleshy kinda colour...peachy-like]...When we tried cleaning it with saline, a little bit was wiped off but not a lot. I haven't had a fever yet or anything...does anyone else know anything about symptoms in burn infections?

If the area around the wound is severely red, then you have an infection.... not entirely sure how deep the burn went on your hand, but it might be possible that the tissue is regenerating at a faster rate where you saw these "spots" and it COULD in fact be scar tissue. If you have any discomfort, swelling or any other adverse condition, you might need immediate medical attention, otherwise I think you will probably be alright until your homecare nurse returns.

Please take any and all advice from the internet with a grain of salt and a heaping tablespoon of common sense :-)
And most importantly, get well soon!!

What does the area around the burn look like? Does it have an oder? Make sure you keep the area dry and covered. If you have any of the flamazine left you might want to put it back on. Sometime the pink spots are actually where the blister where and after the broke the dead skin fell off and what you are looking at is the new skin. It will be very tender for awhile. When in doubt go back to the doctor or at least give the office an call.

I also had a 2nd degree burn on my right arm. I went to the doctors when it got infected. He gave me a petrolatum dressing called "xeroform" As long as your arm is not swollen I think your ok. BUT DO SEE A DOCTOR! 2nd degree burns are very serious!

you didn't say what color the spots are.

If it's an infection it would be brighter red and the redness would spread to the healthy skin.. unless you have redness spreading and hot throbbing pain I wouldn't worry about it..get some extra sleep and keep it up on a pillow, higher than your heart.

My daughter had a gash on her chin. The next day, it had what seems to be the same kind of spots that you were talking about.
I could her pediatric nurse and she said that is the sign of the skin trying to heal itself.
Like the other people said, I would watch for redness, pus, or super sensitivity.

Also any doubt call the dr.

It sounds to me like the normal healing process and what you are wiping away is new tissue growth. Clean very gently with saline if the doctor told you to use it to clean with. Phone your physician for a follow-up appt.
