i just turned 39, my gynie is sending me for a routine mammogram. she did an exam in the office and said she didn't feel anything of concern. should i be worried?

I wouldn't be worried, its a normal test and your at the age where you should start having them. Most mammo clinics have a long wait list and she could have wanted to schedule it in advance.

No, mammograms are normal when you age. My mom is 47, and has had one yearly since she was about 40. After age 40 and closer to menopause a woman is more likely to get breast cancer. Early detection is always best.

You shouldn't worry, but you should be aware. At your age, women are more susceptible to breast cancer. Like I'm sure your doctor recommended, do go in for a mammogram annually. It is imperative for women these days to do so because breast cancer is growing more rapidly these days.
