If this is happening to more than one person then i suggest yes.
Go to microsoft.com and get them to run a malicious software removal tool through your system, should be right then.
Keep your security on auto update and it won't happen again.
This is what can happen if you turn off your fire wall to download programs, you also download a virus.

Nah don't sound like a virus. Troubleshoot, go to device manager make sure your sound and other devices are installed right. Check your speakers make sure they're not faulty or the cables faulty connected from speakers to your pc.
Try another pair of speakers on the same pc, that'll tell ya if its just the speakers u got on there now.

The same thing happened to me a few months ago. What I did was download a new virus detector from www.download.com. I also used Microsofts updates. Try to keep your computer updated. After the updates, it fixed my computer.

does not look like a virus. looks like something is screewed with your settings or windows. Try windows "system restore" to move your system a couple days back. Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore

Go to www.avgfree.com and download the free virus scanner. Run it, and viola, you will know whether or not your computer has a virus.

I haven't had sound for months, I don't think its a virus. Yeah, I don't know what it is, my sound doesn't work on anything.
