I waited for 3 days on top of a small ridgetop in Beaverfalls PA, watching my 12 pt buck strut around, learning everything about him. On the 3rd morning, I crept down to a small glade where he took his morning drink.
First into the glade was the big doe, she looked around then stamped her feet, the 2 yearlings came into view (rare that both survived) they went right to the stream and drank, not 30' from me. They turned back after a quick sip and went to munch on some blueberries. I heard him clack his antlers on the young trees before I saw him.
He was so much bigger than I thought he was from the top looking down. He first strood up to her then to the stream. He was so magnificent, I almost didn't want to take the shot.
I pulled back to my ear and slowly exhaled as I adjusted my shot to the head-on shot for his heart. As my grip on the 40'-shaft started to release, I was throwen to the ground. I heard the shot echo, but didn't remenber hearing it fire. The bullet creased my left knee, and broke my knee-cap.
I thought to myself, right away, I managed to get out of Viet Nam with out a single injury, did they track me here to PA. I knew that was stupid to think, but it was the first thing thru my head.
I managed to stand up. I heard some one moving in the thickets. I shouted, "Hey, you've shot me."
I waited for the answer, "What? Are you OK?" As fast and best I could, I let loose a shaft to where I heard his voice. Then I said, "Why don't you come over here to find out." As soon as I heard him start running away, I let fly my last shaft. Some one was gun hunting during bow season.
I left all my gear, my bow, and steeled myself for the long 5 mile hike back to the road and a diner. I called the Sherrif's office and got a ride to the hospital.
That is the last time I've been hunting. Some off season hunter had accomplished what no VC had been able to do. Strike mortal fear into my heart.

Hunter Carly! i do no longer think of Kelsey or Brooklyn sound okay with Hunter. additionally i admire Hunter for a woman. i could fairly apply it to a woman in genuine existence. i understand some Hunter's that are women.

No, why would I? I do live for some venison and dried salmon from the Natives up North. Going to go visiting up there to see the gang this summer.
