When I was about 13, it was totally legit to order something on TV as COD - cash on delivery. So I would see informercials on TV late at night and order crappy products or music for my friends/enemies as COD....normally, their housekeepers would assume it was real and pay for them and the kids would be like, WTF?

Another thing we used to do is call the local country club pool and ask to speak to different people...like the usual - Mr Hunt. Mike. So over the loudpeaker, they would announce a call for Mike Hunt...or Ben Dover, etc.

My dad made prank calls when I was younger! He's so funny! He once called a local motel and said he was looking for a Mr. Coholic first name Al. The lady said "Alcoholic huh? You know I think this is a joke." He said "Oh do ya?" He hung up and started laughing his butt off!
My friend once had a birthday party at his house when school was in session. Another friend called his house from the school and left a message on his answering machine and said he was our principal and that Pete (the bday boy) had missed too many days and he was going to be over shortly. We all freaked out and ran out in the field to hide. Chad (the caller) showed up and we were like "Mr Salsibury (the principal) is coming! Hide!" He started laughing and then told us what he did. We were kinda pissed but it was still funny.

Usually just dumb pranks, to ex boyfriends. A few years ago, me and my friends used to prank each other all the time (You can dial *67 to block the number) We all worked at a call center for Net-Zero and Juno at the time, and I would call up with all different types of accents. We always knew it was the other person though.

We used to look for "teen line" under the family's name in the phone book and actually call them and have conversation with them about what school they went to and musik they liked.
I also called small time drug dealers, leaving messages on the machine asking if they had any drugs and even called "Rave Promoters" and left angry messages about real things that happened the night before at a party to try to put them on a guilt trip (arrests, car break-ins, getting hurt by residents of the neighborhood of the one-night party venue.

Blocked numbers, caller ID, and star sixty-nine was unheard of at my time. I dialed the number and hung up occasionally when I was too shy to say something. Especially calling childhood crushes.

Stuff like calling the liquor store and asking: "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" "Yes." "Well, don't you think you should let him out before he suffocates?", or calling the neighbors: "Is your refrigerator running?" "Yes." "Well, you better catch it before it runs down the block!" We even had a sound effects record and would play elephant sounds when they picked up the phone.

EDIT: we used to also repeatedly call up a particular number and ask for John, and after each time they'd always say we'd dialed the wrong number. Eventually one of us would call and say: "Hi. This is John. Did I get any phone calls?"

I made prank calls to my friends parents most of the time! It was funny though cuz I couldn't help but laugh or say something stupid, and they would always know it was me. Oh and they would call back!

This is so funny! Thanks for making me think back to way back 10 years ago:) Anyway, my best friend and I use to call ppl and when they answered the phone we would just start singing a song. If we ever got an answering machine, we would sing a song to the machine. We got a kick out of it!
