no more than one or two if the gauge is dependable, don't chance it..go the the gas station before prices go up again.

That is not really a precise measurement. It varies from car to car. One of mine has about 4 gallons left, but the other gets down to about 1.5 gallons.

It should be in your owner's manual, or you could call a dealer, but in US autos, the answer is usually around 2. You could figure that they'll give you twenty miles or so to find a gas station.
