Here's the low-down..We've been trying to get pregnant for 2 yrs. and finally found out we conceived. To our dismay, I started bleeding 4 days later. My dr. was on vacation forcing me to see a different doctor. This dr. said I was never pregnant. But my obgyn said I was, from the blood test results. I have never been so mad or so confused in my life....We dont know if this is a period, miscarriage, or early pregnancy bleeding. I also have methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, angiotensin converting enzyme deletion polymorphism, and a VERY high thyroid peroxidase antibody tieter. (normal is <35, mine is 389)

I know that false postives are possible with urine tests, but in a blood test, I'm not sure. It is possible that you were pregnant and then miscarried...

I am really sorry for the frustrating situation; I know how you feel because my husband and I have been ttc for a long time now, with no luck. I have a condition also which makes it hard to conceive... but you can't give up. Keep the faith, and keep trying.

It is a very rare occurance to get a false positive, It would mean you have one of a few health problems, of which late period is not one of the symptoms. If you got a positive on your EPT I would say you are definately pregnant especially being you are late.. Go buy one more EPT and take it first thing in the morning tomorrow I bet you will get the same positive result. Don't feel crazed I went through the same thing and 4 positive home tests. And I am now 10 weeks, and defiantely pregnant.Go back in a few days to get another blood test.

A false positive is not likely. Practically impossible. A false negative happens more frequently.

I'm not a doctor, but I know that false negatives are more common than false positives.
