A friend will bail you out of jail. A real friend will help you hide the body. Yes, a real friend will stand by you even when you are wrong. But a real friend will let you know what you did was wrong.

The saying goes more or less like this: A good friend will bail you out of jail. A true friend will be sitting next to you in jail, saying, "Gee, that was fun."
That's funny, but the truth, however, is this: "Faithful are the arrows of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy."
Meaning a real friend is not afraid to call you on it when you are wrong... .
Someone who stands by you and does nothing, when you are wrong, is not much of a friend. Friends don't let friends keep on being stupid.

A real friend will not tolerate your mistakes because of all people, it is your real friend who will want what is best for you. A simple friend will not go to through the trouble of reprimanding you and forcing you to do what is right but the real friend will do so. I guess that clarifies your idea. =D

I tell ya what, I think of myself as a real friend to a lot of people but I wouldnt go to the slammer for any of them. If they want to go to jail, I'll send letters and cakes with files in them, I'd even have a going away party, but I will not wear the orange outfit for anyone! Im a good friend, not stupid. =)

A real friend stands by you even when you're wrong--AND has the privilege and the right to tell you you're wrong and ask you to put it right.

A true friend is always there in good and bad times. He genuinely cares and is sincerely concerned about your welfare so he tries to correct you when you're wrong. Thus, he does not tolerate your wrong doings.
