After a Billion or even a million, mathematicians change to a numerical format. I can't replicate here, but it looks kind of like this,

12.525(18) 18 represents 18 sets of three zeros (000)

I'm sure some math person will be able to explain how the system works when doing calculations.

But really you could count as far as you wanted using
scientific notation For example 2x 10 to the 50th power

Hmmm...a math question in an Earth Sciences forum...

Incidentally, I know of about three counting different schemes, which one do you want? ;)

(Oh, and I just thought...you've asked us to count by millions, and then you skip over that to list place names...your list, by the strict letter of your wording should have been "one million...two million..." etc.)
