Yes, he started out at the HS level and worked his way upward. He has been highly successful at the two programs he has worked for at the NCAA level, turning each one around in three seasons or less. Gillespie's coaching abilities are obvious for anyone to see. I am anxious to see how he does recruiting wise outside of The Lone Star State though. If he does not do well, those of us here in College Station will feel justified at his lack of character concerning the way he told his players he was leaving, VIA TEXT MESSAGE!!!!!

Gillespie can coach and he can recruit (he helped recruit Illinois Final Four team of 05' as one of Bill Self's assistants) he breathes, eats, and sleeps basketball, I think he'll get the job done but not overnight.

Uk doesn't have that draw like it use to. The only pressure will come from the fickle UK fans. Florida coach made a good choice.

He has no people skills can not say to his team so long. A unfavourable coach for persons skills. Divorced his spouse because of the fact he's a workaholic. Doesnt recognize his sisters married call. He may be a solid coach yet he's a unfavourable participant. i does not play for him.
