I've always been told I run really fast, so I kept doing it. I've been a racist ever since.

I don't feel that I am racist...however I thought your question was interesting so I wanted to share my thoughts...even though I do not feel that I am racist I would be lying if I said I was not a racist. I think we all have some type of racism in us and I think it stems from what society has taught us and our own ignorance. It is sad that our mind leads us in one direction but our actions speak louder in a different direction. For example, someone might have friends of a different background and engage well with them but when they are around unfamiliar people of that same background they become fearful and react as if the other group of people might do something wrong. Again here is an example of ignorance which is basically stemmed from the unknown and as unfair it is it is a reality. People are plagued with the violence and other things the media loves to shove down our throats causing us to have this inner fear for no reason. It boils down to the fact that everyone should realize that each person is an individual and no matter what race someone is there are people who represent the goodness and the badness of them.

My grandfather is racist, and it is because he started out as a discriminated group, was able to pass while in the service in WWII and discovered that by being a bigot he successfully diverted any questions being asked about him. I love him a lot, but feel very sorry for him on a number of levels.

For me it's not so much racism... but lack of cultural understanding. One example is Ebonics or Spanglish. We are all Americans but when you throw newly formed languages in the mix, makes it difficult to communicate and if the lines of communication are severed toward different culture groups very few branch out from their own tree.

I'm not racist, but to answer your question i think its IGNORANCE
i'm not trying to be funny or offensive but truly the only reason for racism is ignorance, dont judge people by their race nor fault a race by one person. Sometimes people just fear what they don't understand or know (ignorance)

Many people are racist because that's how they were raised by their parents. They were too young to form their own opinions, so their opinions were molded by their relatives.
