1995 Elton John's "Made in England"

Having been a long-time Elton John fan, this one somehow slipped through the cracks, and I only recently discovered it for the first time, incredibly, through YouTube, because someone posted the extraordinary video to "Believe", which is the first track on the album. Except for the title song, all the tracks have one-word titles. All the tracks are different from one another, in typical Elton eclectic style, and all the tracks are fabulous. "Belfast", in particular, is so beautiful it makes me weep: gorgeous pianowork, stellar strings, moving vocals. I never get tired of listening to this album.

Of course, it's hard to pin down only one favorite album, since the ones that do make it into my collection are all my favorites, but "Made in England" is definitely one of my top ten.

"Band On The Run" by Paul McCartney & Wings
is STILL my all-time fave!!!!!!

Others that rank right up there for me are:

Jefferson Starship's "Red Octopus"

"Frampton Comes Alive"

Bob Seger's "Live Bullet"

Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours"

Carole King's "Tapestry"

"The Captain and Me" by the Doobie Bros.

"Nights In White Satin" by the Moody Blues

"BTO II" by Bachman Turner Overdrive

"Not Fragile" (also by BTO)

"Dreamboat Annie" by Heart

Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat"

BeeGees "Nights On Broadway" (pre-disco--and don't knock it 'til you've listened to it!)

Plus any number of Greatest Hits Albums......

(and you can tell my era with THOSE selections!!)
