Everyone knows eating a lot of food is bad for your health. If the people of the world don't have the will power to not go into these places and put these places out of business, maybe the goverment should?

Yes.
Please.
Government, assume my will for me.

That idea might work unless there is one, just ONE person who's will won't be owned. I, am at least that one.

Or maybe we should just chalk the buffets up there with cigarettes, trans fats and recreational drugs..

The government is involved in enough of our life, it should not be involved in how much we eat. That is our responsible. Yes, there are people out there who eat too much, but if they don't eat at a restaurant they are going to eat at home. It is not your business or that of the government to limit the amount of food that anyone eats. The next thing you will want to start limiting is how much sex someone can have, then how often they can go to the bathroom, how often they should shower. Do you want the government, or you, yourself to be the guardian of all the people. It's none of your business how much and what people eat. If people eat too much that is their business. There are a lot of people who are thin who go to all you can eat restaurants, are you saying that they are no allowed to go to these places? Keep your nose out of other people's lives.

Doesn't the government regulate our lives enough? When does it stop. Do you want the government to tell you when to go to bed and get up to make sure you get plenty of sleep? How about who to marry, how many children to have, what kind of career to have, when it is time to die and quit taking up space. If people cannot control the urge to eat so much it is none of the government's business unless we the voters give them this power, then look out !

No ... I might add, hell NO ... last time l looked I had choices, and so does everyone else. People are not forced to overeat. I prefer the "all you can eat" style restaurant because of the selection, there are more choices. Its not required that you eat one of every item. Government has no business regulation such an industry.

Please, be serious. When will people learn to accept responsibility for their own actions? How old are you anyway, 8? Everyone has the ability to exercise self-control, if they choose not to, that's their problem.

It isn't up to the "all you can eat" places to "babysit" the people who frequent them. Why should the rest of us have to suffer because of a few who aren't in control? Is that fair?

Do you need the government to:

- Tell you when to go to sleep (because some people don't
know when to quit partying)

- Tell you when or if you can have children (because some
people are too young and too immature)

- Tell you when and how much you can drink (because
some people are alcoholics)

- Tell you if you can go swimming in the ocean (because
you may drown

Need I go on????????????????????

No, I do not think all you can eat restaurants should be banned. Have you been to a normal restaurant. The portion sizes of most restaurants would feel 4 people instead of just one.

The government has no business in anyone's life controlling what they eat.

All -u -can eat restaurants should never be banned. It provides "picky" eaters like myself the ability to pick and choose. I like All-u-can eat restaurants. I don't think the government need to ban anything. Government should provide education and support groups for those people who are obese and those in need of losing weight.

Oh My!!! What is wrong w/ you? I started going all the time as a teenager while hanging getting F*cked up and just go nuts, but we were teenagers so we were really active and we burned off everything we ate! Besides even at a buffet your body tells you when to stop eating, and if it doesn't oh F*cking well, it's your body, your right!!!!
As an adult I don't act like that now, but I still enjoy a good Old Country Buffet, Man I'm getting hungry! :)

Well, no, I don't believe that they should be banned. If all restaurants that were bad for a person's health were banned, there would be no where to eat! Why single out All you can eat restaurants? It should be personal restraint on the person's behalf, but banning the restaurants would not be a good idea.

There is no rule that you need to eat a lot at all you can eat restaurants, and you can sometimes pick more carefully there if you really want to. The problem is with the customers, not with the restaurants, and the customers will find a way of eating a lot if they want to.

Huh? Talk about a plea for government involvement where they have no right or even better, authority to be involved..... If people don't have the golf-ball sized brain to stop eating, isn't that between them and their scale or doctor? Why should I as a tax payer fund another ridiculous federal program/legislation to keep someone's lack of self-control from harming them? Do you believe in evolution? Isn't this just natural selection in action?
