The Eve Of Destruction by Barry McGuire from the late 60's to ealry 70's is i think the very best war themed song. It hits from way back in the late 60's to eary 70's right on the head of the nail for modern day war goings on and results and destruction..I would suggest you look it up and try and listen to it..I may have a copy if I didnt lose it in my last complete recovery of my system and can send it to youif you wish if I still have it..but it was ahead of its time in what wars are doing to us then and and where they are leading us directly to the Eve of Destruction as the title says for sure. Its definitely a rock song and basically written in protest of the Viet Nam war but it nails all wars as I said.

Pro war or anti war?
Some good tunes would be:
Sky Pilot
I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die Rag
Volunteers
Fortunate Son
You might also try Paul Hardcastle's "19" (that one came out in the 80s, the other are of the time)

Pull up the music credits for the film "Good Morning Vietnam"
starring the fantastic, take a bow, Robin Williams. It incorporates music of the time and gives a bit of the tone
of the horror they all went thru.

One by metalica is good because the drums give the effect of gun shots. One was orginally written because of the gases used in WW1
Another one for remembering the vets is Lower the Flags by Sentenced.
On more of a protest side of the war efforts check out A long way to nowhere by Sentenced.

Country Joe McDonald
Feels like I’m Fixin’ to Die
Yeah, come on all of you big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds —
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war a-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die
