I saw him today on tv . Why is he still alive? Do you think some people are born evil or was he brutally abused as a child , I don't understand what makes him tick.

I believe both may be the answer...but really no one has the answer...many serial killers had bad and abusive childhoods...but others lived in normal homes...with good parents..some were even husbands and fathers..people tend to think you can tell a killer...somehow by their looks etc. that is so untrue..Ted Bundy was not only attractive, but at one time was going to run for senator..there is no sign that warns I am a serial killer! Charles Manson did not receive the death penalty...I believe it was not in effect at the time of his conviction...he was a great manipulator of weak insecure people in need of someone...I read all crime books, I to wonder why?? What makes these people tick...but I wonder will we ever fully know...I doubt it.
Parents should be aware of signs of a troubled child...most serial killers...killed animals as children...this is a big red flag...alot of parents will say oh he is only a child...no killing a animal is in most doctors opinions one of the best indicators there are problems...and serious ones.
Manson is not the only awful killer still living...why I really do not know...isn't it amazing how much publicity etc. these killers get? But most people cannot even name a victim of a serial killer. Manson's case was a little different there...since he had famous and rich people slaughtered. But if we were to think of all the serial killers we can name them...but not their victims...what a shame.
Also many killers....want 1.To be noticed(fame to them) and as sick as it sounds most get sexual relief after killing a person...that is why they do not stop...they escalate the killings...like they are hooked on a drug...oh what a topic...I studied these people, at one time wanted to be a profiler...but I realized I would have a hard time dealing with such horrors.

He is still alive because for some stupid reason his death sentence was turned into life in prison with the possibility of parole. The same goes for his girlfriends. Basically he grew up in jail and didn't really know how to function on the outside.

sure, regrettably. Periodically he meets with the parole board, and the final one became a while this year. He became denied parole lower back. he's barely nonetheless dwelling because of the fact California does not have the demise penalty. look up the e book "Helter Skelter", that's somewhat extreme, yet very exciting.

I think it's both, I have done papers on that scary dude and he had a pretty bad childhood but I don't know what made him that crazy. For some interesting reading look up his childhood years

Some people are evil, however they got that way, and he certainly is one of them. The fact that he is still alive illustrates one of the shortcomings of our system of justice.
