I'm prolly gonna be in the minority here, but I agree with the question. There were priosoners of war captured by the Russians, Japanese, Germans, etc. who endured much harsher treatment and didn't participate in propaganda or divulge info. I think the armed forces are getting soft.

Just my opinion, no disrespect to the British sailors/marines. I would've been scared too...but then again I'm not a marine.

I think the sailors handled the situation well, considering their treatment. They "cooperated" while giving all kinds of clues and signals that they were not participating freely, and that their captors' version of events wasn't the only one. It is a soldier's duty to survive and get free, and they have done this. I am proud of them.

I would just call them human. In Iran they were scared of Iranian retribution. Now they are scared of ours. But despite the wildly different spin they've put on things since being home, the underlying message has been consistent: I WANT TO LIVE!

How can you even think this? You weren't there, you do not know what they were subject to. And yes they were for sure mentally tortured. You do what one must in order to survive, Everyone knew they were made to say what was said.
Perhaps you should join in your Military & remember what were your thoughts when they capture you!

I think they were smart doing what they did. We are not at war with Iran. In war time perhaps it is different. I think most people would have done the same thing under the circumstances.

Just blunders and slip-ups with human errors with communication problems with misinterpretation, miscommunication, communication failures and communication break-down getting themselves towed to the harbour in case they get lost in planet of apes.
