It could be anxiety. You may be having slight panic attacks.
Some people experience chest pain when they get anxious. I know I do.

Well, if the doctors have looked thoroughly and can't find anything wrong, then my best guess is that you have heart burn.

Heart burn can be fairly painful, and as far as I know it's not something that doctors would really detect.

I, however, am NOT a doctor. If you are seriously concerned, then go back to the doctor and insist on a more thorough examination. Perhaps you could ask about symptoms of Heart Burn, and see if they think it is a viable diagnosis.

If you go to the emergency room and say that you are having chest pains, they will do a bunch of tests and maybe find something which (I think) probably won't have to do with the heart. If you go to the emergency room and complain that your chest feels stuffy, they will immediately slap you onto a gurney and connect you to every monitoring device they have. :-(

I had a pain in my chest that the Doctor's could not diagnose, after about 5 months, one Doctor finaly figured that I pinched a nerve and after using a muscle relaxer...the pain was gone..

I would encourage you to get a second opinion...sometimes the Doctors in the ER are tired and the obvious slips by them...

They are human too...I think....

if the chest pains feel like u cant breathe and last hours at a time and also include back pain then I would check out lactose intolerance. I would get severe chest pains for hours and then i would get back pain in the middle of it all. Ask your doctors about it.

I am not trying to be funny when I tell you it may be something you are eating. Some foods can be allergens, and when the food is digested it can cause chest pains. Try keeping a log of what you are eating to see if you can determine what may be causing the problem. You also may need to see an internest, and see if you may have a digestion problem, ie, gallbladder, ulcer or acid reflux.

It could be a muscle strain if you've been lifting...don't ignore the symptoms tho...see a cardiologist for futher tests because the ER only goes so far in trying to diagnose. A specialist will have expertise and can tell you whether or not this is something you have to be concerned about

My ex used to get them when he was in his early 20s. He would go to the hospital as well because he thought he was having a heart attack, but he was told that chest pains are very common in young men, and that they were nothing to worry about. I don't know your age or gender, but it could be similar.

Could you have an inflamed intercostal?

The cartilege that connects ribs to sternum gets bruised and inflamed, and it feels like a heart attack or a sharp pain.

You would need naproxyn to clear it up but once you do it, it is easy to reinflame
