My ex says that I am the closest person he has been with in years and that I have always been very good to him. He is proud to call me a friend and he will never forget about me. He hopes to keep in touch with me and he does hope to come visit me and see how I am doing sometime.

Yes, if he's that open about his feelings about you and can express himself, he would have also expressed to you if there was anything more than "friendship." He's sending a clear message that you belong in the friendship category, though he likes to let you know you are a special person. Take it as it is and don't read much into it.

You need to wish him well and let him leave. If he has any feelings for you, he may be surprised that you are letting him go so easily. That's okay. Tell him you would love to be his friend, hug him and say, "Do keep in touch".

You need to get on with your life. Find someone else. There will be pain for awhile, but time will heal.

If you have been good to him, as he says, he may come back. It's a cold world out there!

It depends on the type of person your ex is. You would be the better judge of this since you know him well.

He may be very sincere and truly wants to keep you as a friend or he may want to keep you hanging in case nothing else works out for him.

In my opinion he has moved on cause he is calling you a friend ...to me that means he has moved on to the next chapter....

Don't worry though there are plenty of fish in the sea and I am sure you will find your prince charming someday...

Yes, he obviously care for you as a friend and that's it. So accept it. You are confusing kindness for something more. Time to stop analyzing ... Accept the friendship and stop trying to find something more in it. Good luck!

Yes he has moved on. He is trying to depart amicably. You're lucky he's so mature. Many ex's hate each other

Yes it means he has move on, but is willing to still have sex with you. He has closed the door but lets you know you can still knock if you want.
