Come on, it's cold out and we are talking "Gorebal Warming"? Isn't it supposed to be getting warmer or is AL just blowing hot air?

So the Earths climate is changing alittle. There was an Ice age (which 20+yrs. ago we were told was coming back), the Earth warmed and ended the ice age, we have not been able to measure climate change long enough to make the determinations that Al is making and mostly all scientist are saying that it is true that the Earth is going thru natural climate changes. All I say is we can't jump into panic mode and we definitely need to take what Al Gore has to say with alittle caution!

More politicians should refer to it as Climate Change and not global warming because as some places become warmer, others will become colder. One of the main reasons for this is the ocean. Water expands when it is heated. The ocean temperature is much more constant than air temperature is, so even a slight change in ocean temperature has a major effect. When the ocean expands, you lose the currents that take the warmer air from the equator to the higher latitudes, making some places colder.

Global warming is a phenomenon that all credible scientists agree IS happening. What is still being debated is whether or not humans have anything to do with global warming. Most scientists agree that by releasing billions of tons of greenhouse gasses each year we are most likely partly responsible for the warming. Still, nobody can be sure - not even Al Gore.

But as for your question... Just because it is unusually cold where you are does not mean that it isn't unusually warm somewhere else. Local weather should not be used as an argument for/against global warming.

global warming is actually a bit of a misnomer.. global warming actually causes wide variations in seasonal weather, this means winters get colder along with summers getting hotter. Its an amplification of seasonal patterns that is dangerous.

And besides, the end result of global warming is an ice age. A good couple millenia with 45% of the earth covered in permafrost will filter almost all the carbon out of the air, and the earth can then begin another cycle...

Its not just Al its McCain too. "Global Warming" refers to the imbalance in the ecosystem that has unknown effects. It does not necessarily mean it is getting consistently warmer all the time, it means the average temperature will go up over the next 50 years or so, (along with the sea level).

Yup, the ice up north is melting.
So the cold water is rushing evrywer else.
So the warm water is turning cold.
Things will get hot for a while, but they'll get colder and colder.
With all this water being let into the oceans, sea levl will rise and land mass will shrink.

Ask me again, three months from now, on July 6th. You may be singing a different tune.

I think Al is right on, personally; more heat means more wind and warmer seas, and wind and sea, on earth, are what ultimately drive the weather. More water in the atmosphere means more snow - and you're already seeing THAT.
