You are a legal adult at 18, can marry, smoke, and get sent to fight in war at age 18, but legally cannot purchase or consume liquor until 21 years of age. Also, I live in a "dry" county, I have to drive an hour to a "wet" county to purchase liquor. No restaurants can build here if they serve liquor. This just doesn't make sense to me. If it's legal in the US, what is the reasoning by making it illegal to sell in certain areas?

I'm from the mid-west and you can get liquor 24/7. I've been in the South for about 3yrs.And basically it's just depends on the county. The different county's can do whatever they see fit just because of who they know or who they are. I've found especially in the South they tend to be more anal just because they're hypocritical of the same things they do, behind closed doors.

Because of your constitution...

The same thing happens here in Canada, we have Dry towns, and towns that aren't. Although, we generally have a consistant drinking age Coast to Coast to Coast...18. Unlike you poor souls, where is is 18 in places, 19 in others, 20 in others, and 21 in the rest...

As for it being illegal to sell in certain areas, the way (Canada and the US) are set-up, each jurisdiction is within it's rights to decide what (Controlled) items are legal for sale in their jurisdiction.

The FEds get the tax money, but the laws reguaring sales are left up to the state and counties. In Lynchburg Tenn. Is the Jack Daniels Distillery. They produce the whiskey there, but it can't be sold in that county. Kinda weird, huh?

Alcohol is a deadly addictive substance and as you grow older you will see that. Many many people, towns, communities do NOT want it around or readily available. People who want to drink bad enough (or NEDD) to will get hold of it.

Be clear that alcoholics dont just kill themselves they kill others and abuse everyone around them. THE POINT is that in the 21st century here there is a new consciousness to not glorify alcohol.
