Mtv, CMT, Muchmusic and others seem to have started airing reality shows and sitcom reruns.

Definitely! When MTV was taken over by non-music programming, they started MTV 2 to show videos, and now they just end up playing the shows and not so much music any more. It royally sucks. It seems you gotta stay up til 3 am to see any real videos. The only one that plays a fair amount of videos is BET, but I can only take so much of that at a time (I mainly like rock).

Yes, i do miss this. I remember watching Thriller and such on MTV at 3 pm while me and my family would sit in the living room. Now mtv plays music videos at 4 in the morning to 5. And thats not alot of time.

Oh yes I totally agree. They call it MTV for music television.
I don't care much for reality shows. If I did, I would watch Family Jewels though. but no, I would only watch MTV or VH1 if there's a music special like remember the 80s or a music documentary.

MTV should change their name to "No-M TV except at 3 in the morning when everyone is asleep"

and I thought MTV2 was created to alleviate the fact that MTV1 didn't play music anymore, but MTV2 followed suit and now only plays MTV1's re-runs.

VH1.. well, same goes for them.(remember pop-up-video? lol)

CMT was just trying to keep up with the ratings MTV was getting by not playing music, so they followed suit as well.

The interesting thing is that well.. they are ALL owned by VIACOM.

Yes... I find it ironic that MTV realizing its video roots created MTV2 to show videos. Then promptly stopped showing videos on MTV2 and plays the same hack shows as MTV.

yeah, i usually find myself watching vh1 more than mtv for that particular reason ...i mean, the shows are pretty good, but the channels's names even have music (Music TeleVision and Video Hits One)...

The lack of music videos is why I no longer watch the music channels.

I remember watching Micheal Jackson's videos on Saturday and Sunday afternoons before having to go outside to feed the cows.
