There could be some problem in drive. So better check.
You can do by two ways:
1. Click start(if Windows XP)in the Run type CHKDSK and enter it will check errors in drive.

2. Click on My Computer
you will see drives
Put cursor on the desired drive
Right Click cursor it will open Property
Click on Tools tab and
then Click Check

After this clean disk, History/Cookies/Trash Bin etc

Then try Defrag again.
If you still face problem call support center of your computer maker and get advise for free I think so.

The defrag will only defrag those space with files. Maybe your hard disk is half filled.
