I work at the Luxor. Kids are allowed in the hotel anywhere in the hotel except on the casino floor near the games. They can wallk through the casino as long as they stay on the path.
Besides the Luxor, I really like Mandalay Bay but the pool is being renovated. You could ask for a complimentary ticket to the Luxor's pool since the Bay is our sister property.
Just as is correct, Vegas is not kid friendly and the hotels are trying to get away from the themes because it misleads people into bringing their children. It is very expensive for the children to play in the arcades all day and you have to chaperone them at the pool.

Luxor is family friendly and great for kids - and like the others say, all casino areas are closed to children. Luxor is next door to the Excalibur another family friendly hotel.
Have you looked into Treasure Island? or the Paris Hotel? Both offer rates under $300 a night. If you book via their official websites, you can probably get a good deal.

Kids are allowed in all hotels, just not in the gambling areas. The Luxor is very nice, I stayed there once. There seems to be a lot of things he could enjoy. Be sure to take the King Tut tour.

Yes, kids are allowed at the Luxor.
Go to lasvegas.com to research hotels. But, go directly to the hotel's web site to get the best deals.

Sorry to say but Vegas is not kid friendly. You would be better off not taking a kid to Vegas, there are things out in the open that a child should not see or be subjected too. You will not have a good time in Vegas with a child, please rethink your plans.
