It freezes after a period of time. After the said freeze, the monitor won't work (meaning a black screen and a dimmed power light (the one that indicates whether the monitor is on or off)) The monitor "clicks" on, and nothing appears. What could be the problem?

Your question is really too vague to really be answered with any hope.

The monitor and computer are two completely different things and generally one does not cause a problem with the other. I'm assuming that something is happening with your computer and it is turning off, leaving your monitor blank/black. Does your computer's power light turn off? If so, it could be a computer power supply issue (which is replaceable), or some other problem causing your computer to shut down (maybe bad memory or overheating processor).

If you have a friend who knows computers that can stop by and see the problem, you may be able to figure out the problem without buying another computer. That kind of advice is just silly without understanding what the issue is.

it could possibly be that it is overheating. Have you checked your fan and make sure it is working. A dirty computer can also cause the fan to burn out. You need to open up your computer every once inawhile and get a can of air and clean it out. Most people don't take care of their computer on the inside. Remember too by allowing your computer to get dirty and your fan to not work properly it can overheat other inportant parts of your computer like your Motherboard-etc. When you computer overheats it can cause balck out of the screen and other problems. So trouble shoot the fan first. They aren't expensive. Also clean it out with air and or the vaccum and then see. Hope this helps
