Tip him 5 bucks. I always tip at least 5 unless the bill is over 25 bucks in which case I tip 20 percent. I used to work in a restaurant so I know how it is to rely on tips. Most people don't know that minimum wage doesn't really apply to servers. Servers only get a percentage of minimum wage. While I was working in a restaurant I only was making 3.90 an hour. Servers depend on tips to make money. Tip them how you would like to be tipped. Oh and for the 2.25 seriously.. Would you really appreciate waiting on someone taking their order bringing them drinks, appatizers, thier food, checking on them from time to time, and putting on a happy face all for only 2.25? They could be helping you for an hour or more and you just gave them 2.25, that's low.

Generally 15% is the acceptable tip for service in a restaurant. However if you are having a pizza delivered you should take into account that most delivery drivers have to pay for the fuel and upkeep of the care and increase the tip accordingly.

even $20. I figure they are usually younger kids working hard to save, so they deserve a bit more than what most people will tip. And honestly, what is an extra $1 or $2 when it will really make them happy (at least for a bit!) And for the answerer that said $2.25....yuck. cheapo. in this day and age, NEVER TIP CHANGE. it's offensive. it would be better to tip $2 than to add that quarter. It shows they figured it out to the penny.

My hubby has taught me to tip well, because people never expect that ...you should see the pizza deliverers and the Ikea store movers that have come after delivering stuff to our house! They were shocked with we gave them bigger tips then they usually got...oh,and also with taxi drivers as well...
some people never expected a tip, at all,and we hand over some bills, and they were absolutely delighted! It was nice to hear their comments..and see how happy we made their day!
Besides...you also tend to get great service when you tip better,,,this is what I have noticed time and time again!
People also remember you...well!!!
