Read at drgreene.com his (Dr. Greene's) article on crawling. He is VERY good to read on any topic about babies!

"Crawling is not just an effective way for a baby to commute from your feet to the couch. Experts say it is excellent training, too; when babies crawl they beef up muscles they will eventually need for walking upright. Most babies start crawling — or using some similar mode of travel — at six to ten months. Though we think of crawling as the quintessential baby behavior, not all babies crawl in the classic sense of the word. One unexpected consequence of the AAP back-sleeping campaign seems to be that more and more babies are crawling later or skipping the crawling stage entirely. Pediatricians say that many babies never crawl at all — they find other ways to get around. Parents should not worry too much about the style of locomotion as long as baby is on the move. Experts say placing babies on the floor (supervised of course) with desirable objects just outside reach is a good way to stimulate their interest in crawling. Stairs and other topographical formations in the home will start to look very alluring to babies as they learn how to navigate the terrain on their own, so at this point baby-proofing will be in order." www.babble.com

Anywhere from 6-12 months. Depends on the baby. Heavier babies usually crawl later, but not always. I have 3 kids -

The first crawled at 6 months, stood at 7 and walked at 8!

The second and third didn't crawl til about 9 months and walked at 13 months.

It varies from baby to baby but I would say between 6-12 months. Usually when they can sit with support they can hold their heads really well on their tummies. Encourage them by placing objects in front that they can try to reach for. Usually they will start off with a military crawl where their legs will kick while their tummies are on the ground. Eventually you ll see them progress.

Nine months or so, but it's so different for every child. Crawling is important develpomentally, so I would encourage it by giving baby lots of tummy play time. I know that some never crawl, but it helps little brains develop, and we all want to help them as much as we can!

Typically anywhere from 6-12 months. It just depends on the child. My kids all started crawling around 7 months, but that's just an average.

Usually at around 6 months, baby's will become noticeably more active around this age. It varies a lot though, every child is different, so every parent’s experience will be different.

My daughter started to learn to crawl around 4months but I kno babies that didn't start to learn until nine months. If you give your baby plenty of time to play on the floor (I call it tummy time) he/she should begin to crawl soon. The baby may learn quicker by watching older babies play which I would encourage you to allow.
