Depending on the crime, the teen could be sent to Juvenile Hall or back home to wait for a court date. If convicted, they can be sentenced to probation or time in Juvenile Hall or house arrest. They can be ordered to participate in rehabilitation related activities.
If the parents cooperate with the court and law enforcement, they will not be in trouble. But if the teen lives with the parents after conviction, the house may be subject to random checks for anything illegal.

Way too many "unknowns" to give an intelligent answer!

What jurisdiction?

Misdemeanor or felony?

If jurisdiction is NY State is it a drug offense (the Rockerfeller drug laws are still very much in effect!)?

What age is the teenager? 13? 15 ? 16? 19?

Mental disability medically proven?

Mitigating/aggravating factors to the crime?

From what little you have given us, the teen might be tried as an adult, or not! The penalty might be anywhere from probation to life imprisonment, or even the death penalty!

Will the parents get in trouble? YES, or NO, depending on the situation!

Even such a generic question as yours could spawn several different scenarios, to get a "real answer" you must "flesh out" the question more!

If this is a question "just to poll the yahoo community" (the situation is not real, just stirring debate), you have certainly done that! If the question relates to a real criminal situation, please respond with more details!

They go to Juvenile Court and is probably assigned to a counsellor for rehab training. The parents have to pay for lawyers and economic losses as a result of the crime.

It depends on the type of crime IE misdemeanor or felony. It also depends on past criminal activity of the juvenile. On most occasions if it is your first offense and it was a misdemeanor you will not get locked up.
