You have engendered some negative response from a few of the rabble. I would say go north on hwy 1, pass the beautiful 17 mile drive of Carmel, passed Monterey and Cannery Row, past Watsonville because there is nothing there, and on to Santa Cruz. There you will find amusement, scenic parks and nice hotels.
