By diverting the 2006 corn crop to fuel production. We are futher stressing the poverty level sector. Will they come here for the corn or for the jobs made available when Cons lose their job because they go on line to insult American liberals on company time.

Well we have screwed the arabs long enough over oil I think its high time we screw our neighbors some more. I think they will drag their feet on getting ethanol from cellulose which makes alot more sense and if we put all our resources into making it happen we would be alot better off. Its estimated that it takes 3 gallons of ethanol to make 4. Maybe we will just have more cheap mexican labor available so they can send more home to cover the increased tortilla cost.

I think that in my lifetime I will see a power struggle for power. If oil is to be replaced slowly with alternative fuels, then vast acreage must be dedicated to its production and large acreage will be taken out of food production. The cost of food will go up. It will become a moral issue of feeding people or feeding the greed of corporations. I'm afraid that the corporations will win in the short run and poverty will increase. There is already a 3rd world reality in every city in the world, even the west. The difference between the rich and the poor is increasing...its all about greed. Somehow we all need to be more responsible in the products we use and we need to have some control over major corporations...they pay no direct taxes, we pay them for them when we buy the products

I've heard some duzzies, but saying that the tiny percentage of corn being diverted to fuel production is somehow Bush trying to increase the price of Tortillas in Mexico, well, that gets top prize so far.

You need a hobby, friend.

Makes more sense than the fact ethanol requires more energy to produce than it yields in mileage. It will also cause inflation of all vegetables/crop produce, meats and eggs corn or other crops are required to feed. Yet individuals who process and use their own soy of vegetable oil diesel are now being targeted and shut down by government taxation agencies, who will charge them enough to remove any financial advantage for creating their enviromentally friendly fuel. You know, hiring illegal aliens to pull a rickshaw or push your vehicle might make more sense.

Ethanol is going to be the biggest con job in terms of fuels yet. It's not only going to ream the environment in terms of pollution but it's going to deplete the water tables and aquafers in the mid-west which is already being depleated because of uncontrollable growth. Why? Because corn takes ALOT of water to grow. It's outrageous how much it takes. It's no solution to oil. It's going to create more problems. The best solution is pure battery power. With the advancements in battery technology, there are cars out there getting 280 miles per charge.

OF course it was Bush's plan.
Just like the recent deal with Brazil,-- The destruction of the Amazon rainforest will be done under the auspices of right-wing crack enviromentalism

According to liberals, everything Bush does is against some group: gays, women, blacks, minorities, the poor.
