if we truly had a 'liberal" media (LOL) Wouldn't one of them offer an alternative to what the others are saying..

I actually heard on the Diane Rheam show today, on NPR no less... that bastion of liberalism, a debate between a journalist from the wallstreet journal and DR about.. "Why would Cheney still insinuate the Iraq/Alqueda connection after he had been briefed about the falsness of that intel...?"

Even my 76 year old republican mom.. barked at the dashboard ... for the Oil!

now if Mom gets it... why can't the rest of you ?

remember the knock against communist russia? reporters gathered at the kremlin, where some pinko govt. mouthpiece told the reporters the official 'line' and the reporters dutifully wrote it down and reported it without questioning its validity?
Of course, here in our free country it's completely different.
Here, reporters gather at the White House briefing room, where some Republican govt. mouthpiece tells the reporters the official 'line' and the reporters dutifully write it down and report it without questioning its validity. 5 years of 'saddam has nukes' by all 'liberal media' outlets.
Regarding Iraqi oil, the Bush admin. is not that concerned about the first round of contracts. That would lack ambition. Right now, the oil fields are nationalized. Bush currently has the Iraqi Congress considering legislation that will 'privatize' 80% of Iraq's oil fields. that way, when china and other nations pay for the oil vis a vis those contracts, 80% of those revenues will go to U.S. big oil. Cool, huh!

Because your mom doesn't get it. Iraq's production of oil has never even been a tenth of what it was since the first gulf war. Saddam never encouraged its production. The state of their oil industry right now is practically nil. All of their production facilities are 30 years old or older, and all rusty. And they don't have qualified personnel to handle the facilities either. The U.S. doesn't get any oil from Iraq, and its level of production has no effect on world oil prices. If your mom new her stuff about oil, she'd realize that invading Iraq would have no effect on China and India's demand for oil. Or any effect on the instability in Nigeria, the worlds 5th largest producer. Or the failure of Russia, the #2 oil producer, to allow their oil onto the world market. If Bush wanted to attack a country because of their oil, he'd attack Russia. Oh, and what about Venezuela's decision to nationalize their oil resources? Do you remember who the first country was to nationalize theirs? Do you know who Juan Pablo Perez Alfonso was, or King Said? How was OPEC formed? What's the difference between oil, methane, gasoline, motor oil, transmission fluid, and brake fluid, and how do you extract these from petroleum? How do you know if you are extracting oil too fast from the ground? What percentage of America's petroleum comes from Venezuela? What percentage of America's refining capacity is located in Louisiana? What is the current state of the world's refining capacity, and what does this means in terms of how the weather and world events affect the price of gasoline? Does your mom know the answer to all these questions? No. She's just a typical Republican who THINKS she knows more about stuff than anybody else, but doesn't know jack.

The first gulf war was because of oil.
The second gulf war had nothing to do with oil, seriously.

Oh, and to answer your question, the reason why they all report the same thing at the same time is because of the role that the associated press plays in the broadcasting of media. All the news companies receive the same info at the same time and of course they all race to get it to the public the fastest. But since technology is so fast now, no one really has a true time advantage, so they all end up reporting it at the same time. Go google the history of the associated press sometime.

Your grandmother is a mental midget who does not take the time to keep herself informed, I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

The legally elected Iraqi government announced in the past few days that their oil contracts have been awarded to China, India, Vietnam, and host of other assorted third world nations.

Diane needs to stop getting sick and start getting current with the facts.

None of the oil is going to the US.
