I don't think it should be legalized, but, I do think that the police/government or whomever shouldn't punish Marijuana users.
There are significant differences between prescription pills, alcohol, and marijuana. Prescription pills are under doctor's supervision. Although, you can take the entire bottle as soon as you get it, but most responsible people usually do not. The amount of Alcohol and Marijuana consumption is in your hands, you don't have to check into your doctor for a refill.
The risk of dependency with alcohol and prescription pills are much greater than with Marijuana, though.
If it was legalized, it would certainly keep innocent people from behind bars, and cells open for people who really did commit a crime, and deserve to be locked up.
It is still a drug, and drugs are illegal unless they're prescribed to you. They can't change the law for just one drug/substance. And, that's the safest route to go, because, not everyone acts similar when they're under the influence.

Yes, it shouold be legal, I also do not think that the Gov. should even attempt to control it OTHER THAN-It should be made legal for personal use, but it should remain illegal for people to sale on the street (A license and a shop to purchase (Tax Purposes) and the right to grow and harvest your own for your own use. I recently looked upon this topic today, and There is still NO scientific evidense that validates or proves any Ill Effects derived from the use of Marijuana; but in all of their proving there is strong evidence that proves with much Scientific Data that it is effective for treating Cancer, Glaucoma, Arthritis, Alzheimers, and HIV and MS; it is a natural Anti Inflamatory, a Natural Fever Reducer, Lowers Blood Pressure, Pain Releiver, and despite the LIE that it causes memory LOSS, (NOTE: it is proven to be effective in treating Alzheimers) thus scientific Data proves the many benefits. On a Spiritual Note, God gave us the Herbs and Trees and Leaves and all things on this Earth for our Benefit and Use, it is in the Holy Bible, and I am a Christian, and I know my peers do not agree, but it is written and I tend to accept ALL of my Bible as TRUTH and will believe it over the words of Man anyday.

If you legalize it, you can regulate it and tax it, just like ciagrettes. That way, the underground element will eventually disappear (anybody want to buy some home grown Marlboro's?) or move on to another illegal drug. By taxing and regulating, you are ensuring a better quality product ( I can't believe I just wrote that!), and you can use the money for drug enforcement, detox programs, education, or a whole host of other programs. Eventually, it will become hugely expensive (like cigarettes) and incresingly unpopular (like cigarettes). Will it ever go away?? No, but at least the gov't would make money off of it.

I think marijuana should be legalized. It is no different than alcohol. I can make my own decisions. I don't need to be infantilized by the government. Good or bad. Right or wrong. It is not any of the government's business.

How in the hell do you draw parallels between prescription meds in someones bathroom to you and your pals wanting to smoke weed legally? That's a real stretch in the debate to legalize pot.
Alcohol is legal - and widely abused. When it's not consumed responsibly, its costs to society are enormous - I personally don't think we should not add yet another drug to the mix.
I don't want to pay for the rehabilitation and screw ups of everybody that falls in love with the stuff.

What ever I have in my medicine cabinet is legal and none of your business, whereas marijuana is illegal. I don't think weed should be a criminal offense to possess or use. It is less damaging than alcohol and so far has been shown to have none of the side effects related to liquor. I do think that it should be unlawful for people under eighteen, the same as alcohol.

If marijuana is prescribed by a doctor and controlled as any prescription drug is at a pharmacy I would go along with it.

They never should have made it illegal in the first place.
