basically the dr believes there was an injury (bent to far down, lifted something heavy) and it affect the lower part of his back right above the tailbone. First step would probobly be an xray and then go from those results (which your dr will tell you what to do).

You have three types of vertebrae. Cervical vertebrae are your neck, there are seven of them. Thoracic vertebrae are your rib cage area, there are twelve of them. Sacral vertebrae are at the bottom, normally called lumbar but they are attached to the sacrum and sometimes called sacral. A Lumbosacral..... Wow, I'm sorry I misread it. I thought it said Thoracic-sacral.

Here we go, There is a sprain/strain between one or more of the five lowest vertebrae and his pelvic bones. Often caused by lifting something too heavy or without proper technique. Without proper therapy it can turn into life long discomfort when driving or sitting.

It's the lower back. The sacral area is the lower part of your spine. So he must have pulled the muscles in his lower back doing something. Hopefully the doctor told him how to treat it.
