It depends on the mission an A team is undergoing. In Vietnam it was customary not to wear underwear because of the need to go in harsh conditions when the threat of discovery was risky.

In garrison and comfortable stations they'd all wear underwear.

What kind of question is this. The Special forces are great Americans and all great Americans wear underwear. I tell you what. I would question whether your an American with a question like that. I bet your one of them New York City boys. Yep I think you are.
