Then complain that they aren't good fathers to the children that they have together (especially after he leaves them like he did the previous baby mama's)?

Why don't women, instead, let men know that they won't have a man who is a bad father?

Why not make 'good dad' something to be proud of and to strive for, the way some women have men convinced that 'nice car' or 'good job' is attractive and desirable to women?

Mainly because our societies no longer praise the process of being a good parent. People are in a lot of ways discouraged from being good parents, and told to live like teenagers even when they... have... teenagers.

Plus, women get a sort of ego trip out of dating a guy who doesn't take care of a kid he has with another woman--it makes her feel like she is somehow better than the child's mother, and a lot of women convince themselves that the guy will care for a kid they have together because she's just so damn special. I mean, that's probably what happened with the first woman, too, right?

It's a major turn on to me that the guy I'm with is the best father he can be to his son, because I want to have a good deal of kids and be a damn good mom to them.

Some women end up marrying men who may act or behave like there fathers. It mainly adds up to how the woman was raised. If she had a postive role model then she is likely to find a positive man. However, if she has a negative role model then she is going to get with a man she is not happy with.

Don't have an answer for ya but as a female myself I think alot of it has to do with self esteem/confidence. Had a friend who was dumb enough to have five kids with the same person (had a little sense) doesn't pay, take care of, or see his kids. Would come around to get a piece knock her up then leave her. Go figure.

She probably feels that she can "make" a good dad out of him. She also probably feels it is the first"s mother's fault because he is not a good father and he will be to their child. Also, I think maybe it is a fantasy, that he will change and be the perfect father. Who knows. Stupidity???
